Overview

Situated conveniently on the second floor of IOI Mall Puchong, BananaBro IOI Mall Puchong (Halal Certified) offers a refreshing take on South Indian cuisine within a comfortable shopping mall setting. The restaurant caters to a diverse crowd seeking authentic flavors packed in generous portions, all while upholding halal standards.

Their signature Banana Leaf Briyani Set stands out as a must-try, featuring fragrant, spiced rice served traditionally on a banana leaf with an array of four curries and unlimited vegetables. This communal style of eating is a core experience here, emphasizing the richness of South Indian heritage. For those craving variety, side dishes like the crispy fried squid rings and slow-cooked mutton varuval bring a depth of texture and flavor, complementing the main meal beautifully.

In addition to the main options, the menu shines with delicacies such as sambal petai and butter chicken, balancing bold spices with comforting creaminess. The prawn masala offers a hearty punch, though some may find the curry's complexity leaning on a milder side. Customers often appreciate that rice, curries, and papadom are refillable, making it a fulfilling option for casual diners and families alike.

The drink selection presents classic South Indian choices with a twist. The cold Teh Tarik Lawa cleverly balances sweetness while the Lemon Tea is noted for its bright, fresh character devoid of lingering bitterness—a perfect counterpoint to the spiced dishes. Mango lassi also adds a cooling, fruity note, ideal for cooling the palate.

The atmosphere strikes a balance between lively and relaxed. It’s neither a bustling food court nor a niche boutique eatery—offering a middle ground that suits shoppers, office workers, and groups looking for casual dining with a hint of exotic flavor. Service here is notably warm and hospitable, with friendly staff keen to ensure your experience is smooth, despite minor delays on drink orders.

Overall, BananaBro IOI Mall Puchong is a solid choice for those craving South Indian flavors in a modern Malaysian urban setting. While some dishes might lack the intense umami some expect, the combination of affordable portions, refillable sides, and well-curated drinks result in a satisfying meal without fuss. It’s a welcoming spot for anyone wanting to explore South Indian cuisine in a halal-certified environment, whether it’s a quick lunch or a relaxed dinner out with friends and family.

The food isn't exactly to die for. There is certain lack of taste for what you order but for the price and what is given to you its not bad. Unlimited rice, vegetables and 4 curry of your choice for 13.90 isn't exactly the worse. The service here was great hospitality was great, they were slightly slow with drinks but it's kinda whatever although they are limited to mostly speaking Malay they are quite nice about it. The drinks are pretty nice, the iced lemon tea didn't have the bitter aftertaste of prolonged tea exposure while the teh tarik was slightly sweeter than I liked but overall pretty good. Atmosphere here is pretty good its not anything super boring nor it is to be amazed about. Overall, the food is alright but the side dishes are pricey in my opinion. Customer service is pretty good and atmosphere is aight.

good service and nice atmosphere here. it's my 2nd visit to this store and the staffs are all very friendly. the food is good. all dishes, rice, kuah and papadom are all refillable. drink wise could need some improvement coz the tea kinda light taste and very sweet. but I'll still come again.

The food was good, and I really loved the peria goreng. The curry, though, I think I could make it better myself. It wasn’t quite ummph. But the lemon tea… wow!! That was surprisingly good! I absolutely loved it. It was rich in flavor and not too sweet, just the way I like it. Other than that, the service was excellent. There was one waiter who was especially good at his job. I came here for a late lunch, and there were only two of us. me and another customer. It was so quiet and peaceful. I really loved the ambience.
